This collection consists of issues of a Lakeland High School publication entitled The Log Book. It was a combination of a literary magazine and school newspaper that began publication in October 1929. Its purpose, as outlined in the first issue, was to "represent the school as a whole, not as one special set or division as has before been the tendency." The opening editorial asserts that The Log Book will be "entirely different from last year's paper, The Percolator..."
The Percolator had been published from 1922 to the spring of 1929 and was in format a newspaper. The Log Book was more like a magazine, similar to an earlier school publication, The Crescent. Only four issies of The Log Book were published, however, and it appeared to cease publication with the January 1930 volume. The Percolator resumed publication in the fall of 1930.
