Railroads and photography were among Harold Sanborn's greatest passions. This small collection of photographs demonstrates clearly his ability to combine those passions in a way that permitted him to document in pictures the history of railroads and railroading in mid-twentieth century Florida. Sanborn captured the essence of small town railroad depots, whistle stops, and the end of the steam era in railroading. Even while owning and operating a camera and photography shop for over fifty years in downtown Lakeland, Sanborn never lost his passion for railroads, collecting artifacts and taking pictures to document a now bygone era in Florida railroads.
