This collection includes yearbooks of the Woman's Club of Lakeland (now the United Women’s Club of Lakeland) from 1913 to 1995. The club was established in 1912 to “promote by cooperation of its members the literary, social, scientific, and civic welfare and advancement of its members and to. . .foster and encourage, aid and support the general welfare of women and all the efforts affecting their interests.”. In 1986 the members of the Woman’s Club of Lakeland and the Sorosis Club of Lakeland voted to merge their two organizations to form The United Women's Club of Lakeland, Inc. It is part of the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. This collection contains the yearbooks of the organization, which include membership lists, lists of officers, the club constitution and bylaws, and a schedule of club sponsored programs and events throughout the year.
The Special Collections unit also houses two published histories of the Women's Club in Florida: The Florida Federation of Women's Clubs, 1895-1939 by Lucy Worthington Blackman (374.2, B629f) and Leading the Way, A Century of Service, G.F.W.C.
